Turn a striking geometric figure into a math lesson they'll build and keep.
Magic Line uses striking geometric figures to teach middle- and high-school math — symmetry, coordinates, factors, and angles. Students explore the ideas on screen with a guided, step-by-step walkthrough, then build the figure by hand on a board with thread. One activity, several objectives: a real math lesson, a hands-on project, and a finished kit to take home.
The same math, reached two ways.
Step Through the Algorithm — on screen
A guided, step-by-step walkthrough. Students advance one step at a time and watch the idea build up, at their own pace — the sequential, visual way into the concept.
Build it — by hand
Students construct the same figure on a board with the nails already set, using thread — applying the idea with their hands, and leave the session with a finished kit to keep.
Some students learn a concept by watching it unfold; others by building it. Magic Line does both.
Built for grades 6–12 — in any setting.
You don't have to be a mathematician to run it. The tool carries the formal content and the session has a ready-made shape; your job is to run the room. Works in a classroom, homeschool, library, or museum program. Run this with your students →
Aligned to Common Core.
The concepts students practice — factors, symmetry, coordinates, angles — map directly onto middle- and high-school Common Core standards, encountered through building instead of a worksheet. See the Common Core alignment →
Teaching modules.
The program includes a set of teaching modules, each built around a different family of figures and the math it opens up. Offered with STEAM access.
1 · Circle Division
2 · Star Polygon
3 · Flower Systems
4 · Fan Systems
5 · Times Table Curves
6 · Basic Harmonics
Magic Line is early: the tool is live, the modules are built, and the first production run of physical Learning Kits is underway. The educators who run the first sessions will help shape the resources that follow. Be one of the first classrooms →
